Roundtable with US 7th Fleet on Indo-Pacific security

USS Blue Ridge

The ANU National Security College recently convened a high-level roundtable meeting with the Commander of the US 7th Fleet, Vice Admiral Robert L. Thomas. This discussion, held under the Chatham House Rule, involved security thinkers and distinguished policy leaders from a range of Australian research institutions and think tanks.

The event was hosted by Vice Admiral Thomas on board his command ship, the USS Blue Ridge, on 3 July during a visit to Sydney ahead of the Talisman Sabre joint military training exercise. The discussion was chaired by the Head of the National Security College, Professor Rory Medcalf, and involved a candid exchange of insights on security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, and implications for the Australia-US alliance.
