Alex McGregor

Alex commenced his doctoral studies at the NSC in March 2015. He is a double degree graduand of the University of Canberra, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Applied Psychology and also completed a Bachelor of Philosophy (1st Class Honours). Alex is a former Australian public servant with a career ranging across a number of departments, including three years working at the Australian embassy in Washington DC.

 

 

Research interests

Alex’s research interests include:

  • US international relations
  • US history
  • national security

Thesis topic

With a working title of “Explaining the USA’s lack of engagement with Cambodia between 1974 and 1979”, Alex’s thesis work at the NSC focuses on the US/Cambodia relationship in the post-Vietnam war period. The research investigates the reasons behind, and effects of, an apparent break in relations between the two countries.
