NSC scholars take out top spots in College 3MT competition

Jen Jackett presenting in 3MT

Pascale Taplin and Jennifer Jackett – two ANU National Security College (NSC) PhD scholars – have won first and second place respectively, in the ANU College of Asia & the Pacific's 3-Minute-Thesis (3MT) competition.

It was the first in-person 3MT competition the College has hosted since 2018, bringing together contestants from across the College to compete for a grand prize of $500 – and a chance to progress into the ANU 3MT final.

Pascale Taplin, who won overall, joined via Zoom from Darwin, and presented on conspiracy theories and misinformation.

Winning the competition was a humbling experience, she said. “I thought the other contestants were super impressive and conveyed their complex projects very well.”

The $250 second prize was won by Jennifer Jackett, who will represent NSC in the ANU 3MT final, due to the in-person requirements.

Good luck Jen, and congratulations Pascale!
