This immersive three-day program is designed for experienced public sector foresight practitioners who are seeking to enhance the impact of futures capabilities and projects in government.

Refocus, reimagine and reinvigorate your government foresight practice.

The program emphasises deep dialogue, mutual learning, and critical reflection, with a small cohort of trusted peers, close engagement with leading experts and a highly interactive format.

Each instance of Advanced Futures features a different lineup of expert speakers and topics, but typical session topics include:

  • Reframing and reimagining foresight in government
  • Integrating futures with strategy, policy and decision-making
  • Unlocking imagination and creativity in government – how to do it, why it matters
  • Building effective futures teams
  • Understanding and overcoming resistance to futures
  • Communicating futures ideas and insights.

Why enrol?

Participants are invited to explore the deeper purpose of government foresight – asking not just how to do futures work, but what it should be aiming to achieve, and where we should focus our efforts. The program aims to equip participants with a clear, actionable plan for increasing the impact and effectiveness of foresight within their organisation, as well as a broad network of expert foresight practitioners across government.

Who should do it?

This program is designed for practitioners with a solid grasp of futures concepts and methods who are ready to go deeper – beyond tools and techniques – towards systems change, influence, and innovation in public sector foresight. Participants must have completed NSC's Introduction to Futures Analysis training program or a comparable course, or have at least 6 months’ experience in a public sector foresight role.

Speakers

Sessions will be guided by leading Australian and international foresight practitioners who are provocative, insightful, and unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.
