Overview of the dynamics of contested global hegemony, including understanding Australia’s national interests at a time of heightened global strategic contestation.

This two-day program examines the shifting landscape of global power dynamics, exploring how intense geopolitical competition and strategic rivalries are reshaping regional and national security strategies. It will assess links between our Indo-Pacific region and wider patterns of global conflict, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, conflict in the Middle East and relations between the United States, China and Russia. Participants will examine key drivers of the global strategic contest—military power, economic and diplomatic influence, technological advancements and ideological divides, as well as changing regional alliances and strategic partnerships.

This program is essential grounding for policy professionals and analysts, who, by the end it, will have a better understanding of the current landscape and will be equipped to develop informed policies that address the evolving challenges of the global strategic environment.

Designed for policy professionals and analysts across Commonwealth, State and Territory governments, this course offers an in-depth examination of the complex and multifaceted nature of contemporary national security.

Our presenters will be drawn from ANU, government departments and expert professional policy makers and practitioners.
