NSC delegation engages with NATO and European security partners in Brussels

A senior delegation from the ANU National Security College (NSC) visited Brussels last week for a program of engagements with NATO officials, European policymakers and security experts, hosted by the Australian Embassy in Belgium.

Led by Head of College Professor Rory Medcalf AM, the NSC delegation included former Australian ambassadors to NATO, EU and Belgium and Luxembourg, Caroline Millar and MAJGEN (Rtd) Duncan Lewis AO, DSC, CSC, former Australian Electoral Commissioner Tom Rogers AO, and NSC Director, Program Design and Delivery, Rohan Titus.

It was a valuable opportunity for the NSC delegation to take soundings on trans-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific strategic challenges, and to explore opportunities for Australia to deepen partnership with NATO as a member of the Indo-Pacific 4.

The Brussels engagements form part of a broader expansion of NSC’s Europe-focused work in 2026, aligned with the College’s policy agenda on advancing Australian national preparedness and resilience. This wider program will include a Track 1.5 strategic dialogue with France, as well as consultations in Stockholm, Warsaw and Rome.

NSC extends its thanks to the Australian Ambassador to Belgium, General (Rtd) Angus Campbell AO and the Australian Embassy in Brussels for convening an extensive and substantive program of meetings.
