Jess Chmielewski
Jess Chmielewski joined NSC in January 2025 on secondment from the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR). She has a range of multi-departmental national security experience, covering intelligence, capability development, strategy development and cyber.
Jess' early career in national security included the Department of Defence, where she managed intelligence production prioritisation and governance in support of modernised military weapons platforms and systems.
Expanding her experience into non-traditional national security roles, Jess has worked at the Australian Taxation Office and DISR, where she established and expanded cyber threat intelligence functions and collaborative intelligence sharing across Federal Government. Jess' experience and track record in capability development sees her advocate and lead efforts in whole of government initiatives. Jess' passion is ensuring Australia's national security apparatus extends from traditional intelligence and security agencies and translates to policy that supports national resilience. Her most recent work in DISR has seen her play a central role in aligning national security and economic strategies.
Jess enjoys building capability and empowering people in complex systems. She has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and Forensic Science (Swinburne University of Technology) and holds formal certifications in Cyber Threat Intelligence and Project Management.
