Steve Tighe is the Director of Chasing Sunrises, a strategic foresight agency. The agency specialises in using strategic scanning intelligence and scenario planning to design innovative and distinct strategies for public and private organisations, industries and communities.

Steve’s extensive qualifications represent a unique combination of consulting, corporate and academic experience in the fields of strategic foresight, scenario planning and organisational strategy.

Steve has been working in the field of futures since 2004, when he enrolled in the Australian Foresight Institute at Swinburne University and commenced a Master of Science in Strategic Foresight.

In mid-2004, he initiated the role of National Foresight Manager at Global Brewer, Foster's Group. Over the next 3 years, he managed several major scenario planning projects both internally and externally (with major customers).

In 2007, Steve founded Chasing Sunrises, a strategic foresight consultancy. The consultancy's scenario planning projects have been recognised for their strategic creativity and focus on innovation, collaboration and co-creation. These projects typically involve the full array of strategic foresight tools including horizon scanning, trends analysis, scenario development and planning, backcasting, impact assessment, and internal communications of findings. 

Steve is the author of the internationally awarded book on scenario planning, Rethinking Strategy, which has sold in excess of 15,000 copies since being published by Wiley in 2019.

Steve is a lecturer in strategic foresight at the University of NSW and is currently responsible for delivering and assessing the University’s Foresight Microcredential course.

Steve has been a professional public speaker on the future, strategy and innovation since 2005 and conveys otherwise complex concepts about the future in a relatable and engaging manner.
