Alex Joske was recently a Director at McGrathNicol specialising in open-source analysis of national security and foreign interference risks. He was previously a senior analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute and a research assistant at Charles Sturt University. He is the author of Spies and Lies (2022), a book about the elite influence operations of China’s Ministry of State Security. Alex’s research on Chinese military modernisation and united front work has directly informed government legislation and policy.
