Claire Marshall
Claire Marshall is a lecturer and researcher focused on understanding how we imagine futures and the role that narratives play in shaping our beliefs. She is currently undertaking doctoral research at the University of Technology Sydney studying how dominant narratives impact our ability to imagine regenerative futures. This work brings together the field of Futures Studies, Narrative Practice and Experiential Futures. Claire is also the creator of the award-winning Museum of Futures, an arts-led community futures project that has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
An experienced facilitator and keynote speaker, Claire speaks on topics such as regenerative leadership, how we think about the future, eco-anxiety and creative collaboration. She has run workshop series’ exploring artificial intelligence and art, the future of journalism, blockchain for social good and AR and VR technologies. She has designed games that have been played at UNESCO, and Google Creative Labs, and has written ‘future histories’ for the Sydney Opera House, TEDx Sydney, WWF and CSIRO.
Prior to her work in futures, Claire was a TV director and development producer and remains actively involved in the screen industry. Recently she ran a project called ‘Impact Teams Lab,’ bringing together the screen industry, academia and community activators to re-author narratives around climate change and equity.
