Dr Christian Fjäder
Dr Christian Fjäder is the Managing Director of Geostrategic Intelligence Group (Geostrat) Ltd, a boutique geostrategic risk and resilience research and advisory firm.
Having worked in public and private sectors, Christian has extensive experience in leading a broad range of national security related teams and programs. In the public sector, he has served as a director in charge of analysis, strategic foresight, international relations at the National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) in Finland, lead national agency for security of supply and critical infrastructure resilience. In the context of this role, Christian acted as a delegate and expert in multilateral resilience cooperation, e.g. in the context of the European Union, NATO the OECD High Level Risk Forum (HLRF) and Nordic regional cooperation. He also managed bilateral cooperation with key international partners.
Christian has also extensive corporate experience in security, risk and resilience, leading regional and global functions in Asia and Europe for Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks. Prior to Geostrat, Christian was a Senior Reseach Fellow at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs and has published scholarly and policy-oriented articles, book chapters and reports in international security, geoeconomics, resilience and strategic risk.
Christian has a PhD in International Relations from the University of Sydney, MBA from Bond University, Master of Arts (International Relations) and Bachelor of International Studies from Flinders University, Australia.
