Heather Burnie

Graduate Research and Administration Assistant

Heather joined the National Security College in February 2024 following the completion of her undergraduate degrees in Economics and International Security Studies, minoring in Peace and Conflict Studies, at the ANU. Prior to joining the NSC Heather worked within the private sector in consulting and government advisory, assisting on projects including the National Biosecurity Strategy.

Heather has interests in development economics, human and gender security, conflict analysis and resolution, and peace processes. Having lived overseas in countries including Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Russia she is also interested in Central Asian security and emerging middle powers in the region.
