Laura Stewart is a Senior Advisor with the NSC Futures Hub, seconded from the Australian Government Department of Social Services.

With a career spanning economic and social policy – covering housing, education, skills and training, employment, and family safety – Laura brings a powerful blend of strategic insight and hands-on experience. Beyond the public service, Laura has a strong background in political negotiation and policy development, with previous experience working in the Office of the Hon Senator Dr Mehreen Faruqi. 

An institutional economist with a sharp focus on social cohesion and economic inclusion, Laura is known for applying systems thinking and futures methodologies to tackle complex challenges. She designs long-term policy solutions that are deeply informed by historical and cultural context.

At the Futures Hub, she is contributing to the development of a vision for a more inclusive, safe, and secure Australia.
