Susan Dietz
Susan Dietz has a long experience on China matters through a combination of government diplomatic service and in the private sector in China. During her 20-year diplomatic career in the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Susan served on a number of diplomatic postings in China (including as Australia’s Consul-General in Shanghai), the United States, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.
Susan then spent 15 years based in China as Director, China Affairs for US fund management company, the Capital Group. Susan established and managed Capital Group‘s China presence until early 2023. She then returned to DFAT as First Assistant Secretary.
Mostly recently, Susan was a Senior Executive Adviser, China, at the ANU National Security College.
Susan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Asian Studies from the Australian National University, a Diploma in Applied Linguistics and Translation from Wycliffe College and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Economics from the University of Canberra.
