From the Indo-Pacific to the Euro-Atlantic

GPPi parliamentary dialogue in Germany
GPPi parliamentary dialogue in Germany

Amid shocks and uncertainties in the outlook from Washington, the Head of College, Professor Rory Medcalf, has been conducting consultations to explore security links between the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic.

In Berlin, he contributed to a partnership between NSC and the Global Public Policy Initiative (GPPi), sponsored by the Bosch Foundation, on security-related parliamentary education, while also taking soundings on prospects for Germany to lead European rearmament. In Vilnius, he met leaders including the Foreign Minister and Chief of Defence, to study Lithuania’s total defence concept. In Vienna and Budapest he lectured on Australia-China relations at diplomatic and defence academies and engaged with multilateral organisations, while exploring Europe’s challenges in building a united security front. Special thanks to Australian diplomatic missions for support of this program.
